There are many casinos in the state, the majority on moored river boats. The largest of the Iowa gambling halls is the Meswaki Bingo Casino Hotel, an American Indian gambling hall in Tama, with 127,669 sq.ft. of gaming space, 1,500 slots, 30 table games, like twenty-one, craps, roulette, and baccarat, and several types of poker; also three dining rooms, monthly shows, and casino advice. Another big Native American casino is the Winna Vegas, with 45,000 sq.ft., 668 slot machines, and 14 table games. Also, the Ameristar Casino Hotel in Council Bluffs never closes, with 38,500 square feet, 1,589 slot machines, 36 table games, and 4 dining rooms. There are many other dominant Iowa gambling dens, which includes Harrah’s Council Bluffs, with 28,250 sq.ft., 1,212 slots, and 39 table games.

A smaller Iowa gambling den is the Diamond Jo, a riverboat gambling hall in Dubuque, with 17,813 sq.ft., 776 slot machines, and 19 table games. The Catfish Bend river boat, in Fort Madison, with 13,000 sq.ft., 535 slots, and 14 table games. Another Iowa river boat gambling den, The Isle of Capri, is open 24 hours, with 24,939 sq.ft., 1,100 slots, and 24 table games. The Mississippi Belle II, a 10,577 square foot paddle wheel boat gambling den in Clinton, has 506 slots, 14 table games, live productions, and Thursday twenty-one events.

Iowa casinos offer a great amount of tax income to the commonwealth of Iowa, which has permitted the funding of a lot of commonwealth wide projects. Visitors have increased at a rapid rate accompanied with the request for services and a growth in jobs. Iowa gambling dens have been instrumental to the expansion of the market, and the affection for gaming in Iowa is widespread.
