There is a fascinating story to the Cambodia casinos that sit just over the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, where gambling hall betting is not legal. Eight casinos are established in a relatively small location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling halls is in a perfect area, a 3 to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular wagering centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The phenomenal income acquired from the casinos ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over 12.5 million dollars, and there are a number of restrictions requirements for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mostly Thai; however, financial sources are ambiguous. The borders are formally open from 09:00 to 17:00, and even though visas are allegedly needed to pass, there are methods around this, as is accurate of many borders.
The first Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in 1998, leaving only a single gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary ship gambling den, contains 150 slot machines and sixty gaming tables. The Naga casino is open 24 hours with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of twenty-one, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The original gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long followed. A total of 150 slot machines and five table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slots and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 one armed bandits and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slots and 96 table games, including eighty seven punto banco (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machines and sixty six of the familiar gaming tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, again a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-inclusive vacation and hotel building that contains numerous luxuries aside from the casino, which provides ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and 88 tables.
