There is an appealing story to the Cambodia gambling halls that sit just across the border from next door Thailand, where casino gaming is not permitted. Eight gambling halls are situated in a generally small area in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia casinos is in a prime spot, a three to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest wagering centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The phenomenal capital accrued from the gambling dens ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over 12.5 million, and there are a few restrictions requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mostly Thai; however, funding sources are vague. The borders are ceremoniously open from 9:00 a.m. to 1700, and despite the fact visas are apparently needed to pass, there are means around this, as is accurate of most border crossings.
The 1st Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in 1998, leaving just 1 casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored bateau casino, contains 150 slot machine games and sixty table games. The Naga casino is open all day and night with 42 tables of mini-baccarat banque, four tables of vingt-et-un, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The original gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long followed. There are 150 slot machines and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred slot machines and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machines and 96 gaming tables, including 87 punto banco (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slots and sixty six of the normal table games, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-inclusive vacation and hotel complex that highlights many luxuries accompanying the gambling den, which has ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 slots and eighty eight tables.
