There is an appealing story to the Cambodia casinos that sit just over the border from nearby Thailand, in which gambling den gaming is prohibited. Eight gambling halls are anchored in a generally tiny location in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling dens is in a perfect location, a three to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest gambling locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a huge business with Thai laborers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing capital accrued from the gambling dens ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million, and there are a couple of limitations requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is assumed to be largely Thai; still, investment sources are vague. The borders are ceremoniously open from 09:00 to 5:00 p.m., and despite the fact visas are for all intents and purposes required to pass, there are methods around this, as is accurate of many border crossings.

The initial Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in 1998, leaving only a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked bateau casino, highlights 150 one armed bandits and 60 tables. The Naga gambling den never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat banque, 4 tables of chemin de fer, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly opened. A total of 150 slots and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 one armed bandits and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and 96 table games, including eighty seven baccarat (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and 66 of the familiar gaming tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a multinational resort and hotel compound that highlights many comforts accompanying the casino, which houses ten thousand square feet of 130 slot machines and 88 table games.
